Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Superable Learning # Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Superable Learning You can connect an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT directly to your organization's Superable Learning site. Once it's connected, you can ask the assistant for a course in plain language, and it checks the course against your site's rules and publishes it for you. There's nothing to copy and paste and no API key to manage. The AI work runs on your own AI subscription (for example, a Claude Pro plan), so it doesn't cost anything extra on the Superable Learning side. ## Before you start You need: - **Any Superable Learning plan.** Connecting AI apps is included on every plan, including the free Sandbox plan. - **An Admin or Editor account** in your organization. Viewer accounts can't publish courses, so they can't connect an app. - **Your organization code.** It's the first part of your Superable Learning web address: for `acme.superablelearning.com`, the code is `acme`. It's also shown on the **AI Apps & API Keys** tab. - **The connector address:** `https://superablelearning.com/mcp` ## Connect Claude These steps work in Claude on the web and in the Claude desktop app. Once connected, the connector also works in Claude's mobile apps. 1. In Claude, open **Customize**, then choose **Connectors**. 2. Choose **Add**, then **Add custom connector**. 3. For **Name**, enter `Superable Learning`. 4. For **MCP server URL**, enter `https://superablelearning.com/mcp`. 5. Choose **Continue**. If Claude then shows a **Connect** button for the new connector, choose it. 6. A Superable Learning sign-in page opens. Enter your organization code, sign in with your Superable Learning email and password, and review what the app will be able to do. 7. Choose **Allow access**. You'll return to Claude, and the connector shows as connected. If you use Claude through a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner of your Claude organization may need to add or approve the connector first. ## Connect ChatGPT ChatGPT calls these connections apps or plugins, and the place to add a custom one depends on your ChatGPT plan and settings. In general: 1. In ChatGPT, open **Settings**, then look under **Integrations** for **Plugins** (it may be labeled **Apps** or **Connectors**). 2. Add a custom app or connector using the address `https://superablelearning.com/mcp`. On some plans this option only appears after you turn on developer mode in the advanced settings. 3. When the Superable Learning sign-in page opens, enter your organization code, sign in, and choose **Allow access**. ## Using it Just ask in a normal conversation. For example: - "Build a short course on writing good alt text and publish it to my Superable Learning site." - "Check this course outline against Superable Learning's rules, but don't publish it yet." - "Make a three-module onboarding course for new volunteers, with a short quiz at the end of each module." The assistant first reads Superable Learning's course-building instructions, writes the course, checks it, fixes anything the check finds, and then publishes it. When it's done, it gives you a link to the new course. Before creating a course, the assistant checks your existing courses so it doesn't accidentally reuse a title. A course's title is what identifies it, so publishing with the same title as an existing course updates that course; the assistant is instructed to ask you first. ## Changing an existing course You can ask the assistant to change a course that's already published, for example: "In my Alt Text Basics course, add a short quiz to the second module." It reads the current course, makes the change, checks it, and publishes the update. Anything it didn't change, including images, audio and styling, stays exactly as it was, and the previous version is backed up automatically. You can also ask it to list your courses, or to review one and suggest improvements without changing anything. ## Images - **Diagrams and icons:** the assistant can draw these as SVG and include them in the course directly. - **Photos and generated images:** in ChatGPT, the assistant can add an image from your conversation (one you shared, or one it created) to the course and use it in a module or as the course thumbnail. Ask it to "add this image to the course". The image must be PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP, up to 10 MB. - **Your own images in Claude:** Claude can't send files to connectors yet. Upload them on the Admin Panel's **Media Assets** tab instead, then give Claude the path the upload confirmation shows. Images added either way stay with the course when it's published again. ## Removing a course or an image You can ask the assistant to remove a course, or an image saved for a course, for example: "Remove my Reviewer Test Course" or "Move the unused images in my Alt Text Basics course to Trash." The assistant never deletes anything outright: it moves it to Trash, the same Trash as the Admin Panel's Move to Trash button. It always takes two steps. The assistant first shows you exactly what would be moved (the course's title and link, or the image and which modules still use it) and asks you to confirm. Nothing is moved until you say yes. Your AI app may also ask you to approve the action. You can restore anything in Trash from the Admin Panel for 30 days (the Course Library tab for courses, the Media Assets tab for images). After that it's deleted. The [Admin Dashboard guide](help.php?doc=admin-dashboard-guide) explains Trash in its Trash section. Apps connected before this was added (mid-October 2026) can't move anything to Trash. To allow it, disconnect the app and connect it again, and approve the new permission. ## What a connected app can and can't do A connected app acts as you, and only within the organization you chose when you signed in. It **can**: - See your published courses, check new or changed ones against your site's rules and accessibility checks, add images, and publish them. Publishing a title that already exists updates that course (the old version is backed up) - Move courses and course images to Trash, after showing you what will be moved and asking you to confirm. You can restore them from Trash for 30 days It **can't**: - See learners, their progress, or survey responses - Change people's accounts, branding, or billing - Create API keys or connect other apps If your account is removed, or your role changes to Viewer, the connection stops working right away. ## Disconnecting an app In the Admin Panel, open the **AI Apps & API Keys** tab. Under **Connected AI Apps**, choose **Disconnect** next to the app. It stops working immediately. Anyone can disconnect an app they connected themselves. Admins can disconnect any app in the organization. You can also remove the connector from Claude's or ChatGPT's own settings, but that only removes it on their side. Disconnecting it in the Admin Panel is what guarantees it can no longer publish. ## Connected AI apps or the desktop course-building tool? Superable Learning also has a desktop course-building tool, which runs on your computer and connects with an API key (Premium plans). The difference: - **Connected AI apps** are the easiest way to start: you sign in once, and they work in Claude or ChatGPT on the web, on desktop, and on your phone. - **The desktop tool** can also read files from your computer, such as converting a PowerPoint deck into a course. It needs some setup, and it only works in desktop AI apps. ## Troubleshooting **"We couldn't find an organization with that code."** Check the first part of your Superable Learning web address and enter only that part, for example `acme`. **"Your account can't publish courses in this organization."** Your account has the Viewer role. Ask an Admin in your organization to give you the Editor or Admin role. **The Allow access button is unavailable.** The message near the top of that page, just under the heading, explains why. Usually your organization is suspended, or your account no longer has the Admin or Editor role. **The assistant says the connection stopped working or asks you to sign in again.** The app was disconnected, your role changed, or the connection hadn't been used for 60 days. Connect it again using the steps above.
